The name of Nissim Ezekiel is always placed at the zenith among the pioneers of modern Indian English Poetry. Other poets such as Toru Dutt, Michael Madhusudan Dutt, Sarojini Naidu, Sri Aurobindo, Rabindranath Tagore and many more have taken Indian poetry to the zenith of appreciation. Sarojini Naidu, Indian independence activist and poet is also known as The Nightingale of India. The mystic bent in her poems exhibits the influence of Vedic concepts. She blends mysticism with Indian mythology, giving it a unique character. Some of her poems have been composed in mystical tradition. This paper would try to analyze elements of mysticism from her three volumes of poems, The Golden Threshold (1905), The Bird of Time (1912) and The Broken Wing (1917) in brief. It would further try to analyze the quest of the poetess to unite with the infinite through her select works.
