Abstract

In India, women contribute more to the unorganized sector for low wages, long working hours and standby jobs. Majority of the women go for work due to economic need and compulsion. Due to increased trend of female workforce participation in the urban areas, it becomes quite difficult for working women to balance the house hold chores and outside work. So, they started appointing servant maids to complete these house hold works. Servant maids are also kept by homemakers for menial tasks. Higher Percentage of women is engaged as maids because of well-known work as women are trained to household chores from their childhood. This paper aims to understand the socio economic conditions of servant maids in unorganized sector in the study area.
